Spanning 160 million years (from 230 to 70 myrs ago) it had taken a particular sequence of sedimentary deposition in lush deltas, swamps, wetlands. Intense pressures, temperatures, geochemical processes had been required. It had then taken the right amount of tectonic uplift and a particular climate that could give rise to erosion by wind and water — 20 millions years of patient sculpting — eventually resulting in this balanced hoodooed beauty.

A miracle of nature!

And for what?...

For this idiot with camera (me) to accidently dislodge that which had been standing long before his most remote primate ancestors even began to articulate a concept of themselves.
